Daphne East Elementary PTO Room Representative Information

Dear Room Parent,

Thank you for volunteering your time and energy to serve as your child’s classroom rep!  The PTO Board could not be more thankful for your willingness to help make our school a better place for all.  Your position will be crucial in providing clear communication between the parents and teacher. You will be communicating information from the PTO to the parents as well.  You will be enlisting the help of other parents to help you with all the year’s activities in the classroom, as well as school-wide fundraisers/events.

IMPORTANT TOOLS:

PTO Email - daphneeastpto@gmail.com

PTO WEBSITE - WWW.DAPHNEEASTPTO.COM

PTO FACEBOOK PAGE - https://www.facebook.com/daphneeastpto

REMIND - Text @deespto to 81010 or download the remind app and enter code @deespto to join new class.

GETTING STARTED CHECKLIST

  • Meet with your teacher as soon as possible.  She/He may ask you for other help besides PTO stuff.  Each teacher is different.

  • Ask your teacher for a class email list.  Write an e-mail/letter introducing yourself to the class and tell the parents how and when they should expect communications from you.  If you do not have a co-room parent, and would like one, feel free to ask your parents for a volunteer.

  • Ask all your parents to join the Remind for their grade for the PTO. (This is different than the teachers remind). Directions to do so are on the website.

  • Things you will share with your parents:

    • Let them know about events for the month.  It is important to give your parents a chance to be involved in the classroom and share their feedback on improvements.

    • Your teacher should have completed their teacher interest form. The PTO website (www.daphneeastpto.com) will have these uploaded as soon as teachers turn them in.

COMMUNICATION GUIDELINES

  • Normal everyday communication with your parents doesn’t need to be reviewed by PTO as long as you DO NOT use a PTO logo or verbiage that would lead a parent or teacher to associate that it is coming directly from PTO.

  • PTO will send room parents and class parents quick reminders via Remind.

  • Longer, more detailed information will be emailed to each Room Parent, and you should forward it on to your class ASAP.  Information will be time sensitive.

  • Please notify the PTO as soon as possible if there is any change to your contact information or if you are planning a move from the school.

  • Communication is the key to having a successful year, so make sure you “over communicate” rather than “under communicate.”

Thank you again for volunteering your time and services! We know how busy the school year can be and your commitment does not go unnoticed. It truly does take a village; which is why we appreciate your assistance in bettering our community and school.  We hope the 2022-2023 school year will be a fantastic year.

Sincere thanks,

The 2022-23 PTO Board
